In the fast-paced life that everyone is leading, it also becomes a little difficult to take extra efforts to maintain our white smile, therefore more and more people are opting for teeth whitening treatments.
After opting for teeth whitening from dentists, one should follow these few rules to have long term results for their treatment.
- Avoid drinks and foods that stain – There are various food items, such as tea, coffee, cola, mustard, hot chocolate, ketchup, red wine etc. which stain our teeth. One should try to opt for lighter options over these, as in one can replace red wine with champagne, or have iced cappuccino instead of espresso. If one doesn’t want to shift to lighter options, then they must at least opt to have these drinks with a straw, so that the liquid doesn’t come in direct contact with the front teeth.
- Use whitening toothpaste – While these toothpaste don’t show a drastic change in the color of your teeth, but the presence of hydrogen peroxide makes it a better option. Also, they are more beneficial than the regular toothpaste used by everyone and can help to keep the effects of your teeth whitening treatments longer.
- Brush correctly – One should take a lot of care while brushing their teeth. It is advised to brush your teeth gently for a duration of at least 2 minutes every day, brushing the teeth too hard would hurt the enamel and would cause long term problems for the gums. Additionally, the consideration should be taken that soft-bristled toothbrush is more suited than a hard-bristled toothbrush.
- Use a mouthwash after brushing – Mouthwash contains fluoride, which helps to fight decay. Once, you’ve brushed and flossed your teeth, you should use mouthwash so that it settles in the gaps cleaned by the brushing and helps fight decay. There are a few variants of mouthwash, which have hydrogen peroxide as an ingredient, these mouthwashes can extensively help in whitening the teeth.
